For her first solo exhibition, Charlotte Alice Martha Dossche invites you into an altered reality. Her series Myopia stems from observations and walks in which she embraces her myopic sight to recalibrate her perception. In this ‘new world’, her focus shifts, senses are stimulated differently, and unexpected details demand attention. By meticulously documenting this, she lays the groundwork for layered oil paintings and giclée prints being shown for the first time in this exhibition.
Inspired by neuroscience and the idea that we live in our own ‘personal hallucination’, this work explores the thin boundary between perception and reality. At a time when algorithms and media dictate our perspective and make us doubt what is real, these works form a sensory counterweight. The exhibition challenges you: how is your view colored by who you are, and which perspective is truly your own?
