SUPPORT
SUPPORT is NUCLEO’s support programme for artists (both at NUCLEO and beyond). Artists are encouraged to deepen and strengthen their artistic practice through exchanges, workshops and other forms of sharing.
UFO For and by artists
From the autumn of 2024 to the autumn of 2026, UFO (of which NUCLEO is a member) is organising the programme ‘For and by Artists: what does it mean to support artists?’ in Flanders and Brussels.
This programme consists of
- international visitor days (UFO Visitor program);
- peer-to-peer event (UFO Mixers);
- a series of artist portraits.
In 2027 a publication will be released that reports on the project in an experimental way and presents its findings.
UFO is the platform of studio organisations connecting Cas-co (Leuven), De Tank (Het Entrepot, Bruges), Level Five (Brussels), MORPHO (Antwerp), NUCLEO (Ghent) and Vonk (Hasselt-Genk). UFO actively thinks about sustainable solutions and creative models to keep (and anchor) artists in the city, both on a local and a Flemish level.
‘UFO: For and by artists’ is supported by Flanders.

Chit Chat
Chit Chat is a recurring gathering designed to foster conversation, connection, and mutual support among artists.
Each time we meet in a different studio, where all topics are welcome. Whether you’d like to share your creative process, discuss doubts and challenges, or simply exchange thoughts on art and creativity — this is a space for open conversation, accompanied by good food and drinks. There is no obligation to present your own work; you are just as welcome to listen, engage in discussions, and enjoy the inspiring company of fellow artists.
Our goal is to build a close-knit and supportive artistic community where we can openly share both the highs and lows of our practice.

Even Elders
Even Elders (Dutch for ‘Elsewhere for a While’) is an exchange between NUCLEO and De Tank in Bruges, in which an artist from one organisation is hosted by an artist from the other. The host opens up their studio or project space, introduces the visiting artist to the organisation, and shares their knowledge, network and practice. The focus is on getting to know each other’s practice, collaborating, offering feedback, finding inspiration, or simply making space to work on their own projects in a different context.
Each residency concludes with a public event: a presentation, artist talk, reflection on existing or new work, a work-in-progress showing …
Jeroen De Wandel will be the first artist from NUCLEO to take part, joining Hans Demeulenaere at De Tank in January 2027.
Later in 2027, an artist from De Tank will spend two weeks at NUCLEO in Ghent under the same arrangement.

Residence in South Tyrol
In 2026, NUCLEO organised an exchange with the Südtiroler Künstlerbund (SKB). Like NUCLEO, this association of artists from South Tyrol offers studio, research and exhibition space for professional artists.
The pilot project included a two-month residency and a presentation at BLANCO for SKB artist Maya Fluss. Maya received artistic mentoring from Linda Jasmin Mayer, an artist from South Tyrol who lives in Ghent and has a studio at NUCLEO Lindenlei.
In the autumn, the exchange continued in the opposite direction, with NUCLEO artists Liesbeth Henderickx and Kasper De Vos spending two months in Bolzano. Both drew inspiration from South Tyrol’s landscape and culture: Liesbeth explored the region’s architecture and geological features, while Kasper focused on food and the relationship between people and the landscape.
