UFO Mixers #1: ‘Prints & Puns, Where Artists make a Mark’
SUPPORT
Cas-co and UFO co-organize the UFO mixers #1:‘Prints & Puns, where artists make a Mark’. The UFO mixers are peer-to-peer programmes, bringing together artists and professionals around a central theme or event in order to learn about each other’s way of working, exchange knowledge and create sustainable links between several artistic ecosystems. This first edition in Cas-co, Leuven, focuses on the (joys) of artistic publishing and printmaking, by gathering and showcasing a number of practices in and outside of the Leuven community working on this topic. After the day programme, you are cordially invited to stay and join for Cas-co’s Tin Jubilee Party.
Programme
- Part 1: plenary programme on artistic printmaking (3 to 5pm): we start the day with a programme of talks, performances and presentations by people from the printing scene tied to UFO: Bebe Books, Maya Strobbe (Vroom.space/Ramsdam), Atelier du Toner and Ann Onghena. We end this part of the programme by hoisting our new jubilee flag by Maya Strobbe and Lieselotte Vloeberghs;
- Part 2: touring the Cas-community (5 to 7pm): we break down in smaller groups and tour the different ateliers and practices in the three Cas-co sites (Studio Vaartstraat, Studio Minckelers and Studio Maakleerplek). Next to the ateliers, special highlights in the tour are the new graphical lab, a (birthday) exhibition by Jente Waerzeggers in Minckelers.
- Part 3: walking dinner in Off the Grid (7 to 8pm): as of 7pm, we foresee a walking dinner in de Vaartstraat and the possibility to roam around in Off the Grid, the residency and presentation platform of Cas-co. To be discovered: the newly launched Cas-coffer (a broad selection of artist prints from the Cas-community), spatial interventions by our current collective-in-residence Bienvenue, a soft launch presentation by artist-in-residence Robin Faymonville and a selection of archived flags.
- The day programme will tie in with the evening party‘Cas-co’s Tin Jubilee’ (20:00 – 01:00), which will start with a festive ceremony and will probably feature performances and DJ sets by Orczi96 (Klaudia), Georgy Chtchevaev, Lea Hasbroucq and Fausse Sceptique. Tickets cost 8/14 euro (regular/support).
Participation
The program is free, but spots are limited to 60 participants. Inscription (via this form) is obligatory.
UFO
UFO is the platform of studio organisations connecting Cas-co (Leuven), De Tank (Het Entrepot, Bruges), Level Five (Brussels), MORPHO (Antwerp), NUCLEO (Ghent) and Vonk (Hasselt-Genk). UFO actively thinks about sustainable solutions and creative models to keep (and anchor) artists in the city, both on a local and a Flemish level.
