‘On what basis may an object be included or excluded from a collection — color, size, material, shape? Cornerstone contains a collection of paper corners, which are themselves collecting instruments. A corner does not only demarcate. By bringing together what lies within and excluding what lies outside, the corner itself becomes a marginalized part of the page. The figures or information are literally in the corner. Alongside a richness of differences, a collection also evokes a sense of perfection. As if the multitude of distinct specimens together aim to capture an essence. For example, what is the perfect corner? Is the corner that sits in the corner more ‘corner’ than other corners? These kinds of questions sow doubt, threatening the collection with dissolution.’
