Jasper Nollet gazes impatiently into the future, envisioning humanity’s development into an interplanetary species. He delves into the possibilities and challenges this transition brings, not only for our technological capabilities but also for our collective identity as a species. Drawing inspiration from and fascination with the “overview effect” — the profound sense of connectedness experienced by astronauts when seeing Earth from space — Jasper explores how this shift in perspective can transform our relationship with each other and the cosmos.
In his work, Jasper brings to life a visual dialogue between what lies behind us and what awaits. He combines archetypes of the past with futuristic forms and imagery, reflecting on the cultural legacies we carry and the speculative future we are building. His practice exists at the intersection of archaeology and science fiction, where objects and ideas from the past collide with visions of a future that is just beginning.
