2018: The temporary NEST project, located in the former library in central Ghent, was a highly impactful initiative in terms of expertise in managing shared use of space. NUCLEO was part of a consortium with Timelab, Democrazy, KERK, and Totum, responsible for the conceptualization and management of this project.
Alongside the temporary NEST project, we initiated an artistic research project within BLANCO’s program. At the conclusion of the temporary installation in June 2018, artist Samira El Khadraoui presented a sculptural performance that visualized the concepts of “temporality” and “emptiness.” At twilight — l’heure bleue — when the fading light highlighted the building against the sky, she enclosed the emptiness of the old library, capturing the vanishing space in a striking visual form.
